Starting the 2017 With Running Nose and Ghibli Movies

Sick girl illustration Inkscape

My first days in this year were full of snot and sneezing. And lots of adorable Studio Ghibli movies.

I was ill when there was this big and important day for me where I got one year older again (that explain why there’s a piece of cake in the picture). And I was still ill when there was birthday for the great Hayao Miyazaki three days later. After a week long illness I thought that’s enough and got in the good shape again.

Happy new year! đŸ™‚

  1. Happy New Year and Happy Belated Birthday, Hanna :-)! Sorry to hear you were sick. Your sick-day illustration is super awesome though! So many great details! Are you thinking of illustrating and writing a children’s book or a graphic novel? You’re really good at telling stories with drawings.

It wasn’t so bad to be sick, because it gave me opportunity to watch many great movies and draw that picture.
I don’t know why I haven’t thought about making graphic novel. It’s great idea! Graphic novel for children, like this Amulet series I saw recently. Thank you again! đŸ˜‰

And I hope that your 2017 would be also joyful! đŸ™‚

  2. Hope you’re totally better again – the drawing is very good indeed. Did you even draw the TV and calendar from scratch?? That’s very detailed and good!

    1. I’m totally recovered, thank you, Eleanor! đŸ™‚
It’s actually computer monitor, which turned out smaller as it really is. I have this monitor, table and sofa in my living room, so at first I made sketches in my notebook and after that I drew them digital.
With the calendar, I used the numbers and fonts that Inkscape offers, so maybe I can say that it’s not actually from scratch. If you are familiar with the program then you’ll see that there are many great tools that are helpful for draw correct lines (maybe even too correct for illustrations) and little details. đŸ™‚
